The importance of Satellite communication

Optical fiber communication and Satellite communication system are two important Communication systems which are mostly used for data communications and telecommunications. There are various types of Satellite communication system. According to the Coverage area, there are basically 3 types of satellite communication system.

They are termed as Global satellite communication, Regional satellite communication, and National satellite communication.

According to the service type provided, the satellite communication system is classified into 3 types. They are known as Broadcast service satellite, fixed service satellite, and Mobile service satellite. They are mainly used for telecommunications, data communication, military purpose, etc. They are also used for experimental purposes.

Any Satellite communication system has a satellite-based antenna in its orbit. These antennas play a vital role in transmitting data and information.

The antenna present in the stable orbit is the heart of a Satellite communication system.

Various antenna systems can be seen in or near earth which is called as Earth stations. This earth station also communicates with other satellites in the space. Where are the basic operations carried out? All the basic operations are carried out through the antenna systems.

Any transmission from the earth station to the satellite above is done by the process called Uplink. Similarly, any transmission from the above satellite to the earth station is done by the process called Downlink. Hence, both uplink and downlink operations play an important role in sending and receiving the signals in the satellite-based communication system.

What plays a vital role in converting uplink transmissions into downlink transmissions in the satellite-based communication system? The important system which plays a vital role in converting Uplink signals or transmissions into Downlink signals is called a Transponder.

What does GMPCS stand for? It is defined as a Global Mobile Personal Communication System which is a personal communication system providing global coverage area from a group of Satellites. What are the facilities carried out by such type of personal communication system? This system is highly capable of providing telecommunication services like data, multimedia, messaging, two-way voice, and even fax directly to the Users.

Such type of personal communication system also uses satellite-based antennas to transmit data transmissions for a better result.
