The project management tool which is used for collecting and analyzing information is called Environmental impact analysis. The information is collected and analyzed to aid various planning to run a certain project. The various detailed information on environmental effects is analyzed. In Environmental impact analysis, the potential environmental impacts are identified and examined. When they are identified and analyzed, the different preventive and corrective measures are applied. After that, the project leader or manager makes the decision whether the project should run ahead or not.
The various environmental impacts that are faced by a certain project are the adverse impacts that will take place while implementing the project in a certain place. The various examples of such adverse effects are land erosion, landslides, soil erosion, loss of vegetation/ wildlife habitats. The mentioned erosion takes place on a large scale.
The project leader or manager should have a clear vision that by implementing the project anywhere in the society or country, there are the chances to have certain impacts on the existing environment.
So, the different types of Environment impacts are the biological impact, cultural impact, physio-chemical impact, socioeconomic impact, etc.
There may be a chance of facing the environmental problems while running the project. It can be caused by a natural cause or by man-made decision. In this type of case, man-made decisions cause various environmental problems. Some of the examples are deforestation, pollutions, etc. The mismanagement of existing natural resources is the reason for negative environmental impacts. The various developmental projects help in reducing illiteracy, poverty, etc. But the negative impact of such developmental projects is that it causes various environmental problems at the end. Deforestation, erosion, etc. are common examples of such negative impacts.
In Environmental impact analysis process, first of all, the project screening takes place whether the project needs environmental impact analysis or not. After that, all the significant impacts are identified and the description of the environmental baseline is carried out. Then, the impact is predicted and evaluated. After the evaluation is done, different corrective measures are carried out to solve the problem. Here, some of the examples of such measures are monitoring and auditing. Finally, the environmental impact analysis report is presented by the project leader or manager. It is reviewed by various stakeholders to make a final decision regarding the project run.
Project Environment- It is the different term compared to the above-mentioned headings. The project environment consists of various elements. They are defined as complexity, competitiveness, completeness, and customers focus. And, the project environment is classified into various headings. It is classified as the internal environment, external environment, and task environment. There are many factors that influence the certain running project.
Some of the examples of an influencing factor are contractors, suppliers, competitor, labor union, government, etc. The internal environment of the project is controllable by the project leader or manager. And, the external environment of the project is not controlled by the project leader because it is situated outside the project.
